Weird video of the week

Yeah, I know Jay-Z is a very unlikely candidate for this but just watch. I've seen it like 5 times in a row and can't make any sense of it...totally weird and seems to have nothing to do with the song. C'mon, Cirque du Soliel dancers, crazy white dudes, paint, bullets, human teeth, animal skulls, etc... I'm feeling it though and really dig some of the simple effects. Plus, it's a good club track that I'd definitely play at.

Weird video of the week

It's been a while since I've posted one of these but this has got to be one of the weirdest music videos made in a while. The techniques are cool and the song's pretty good but what the hell is going on in some of these scenes!!??? Hilarious..weird..intriguing..bizarre..

Weird video of the week

I know I've missed a lot of weeks but don't worry, I got you covered! I just got to edit that post a bit but be on the lookout for a mega "Weird Video Of The Week" post with probably 6 or more videos. In the meantime, Major Lazor wins again. First it was the epic video for "Zumbies" and now this!

Lou Beach

I think this guy is a modern incarnation of Hieronymus Bosch. Seriously, this guys stuff is just weird, fun, witty, deep and layerd with meaning and interpretation. Lou Beach's work is no secret though and new pieces are published on a consistent basis the same as they have been for over 30 years. Beach's illustrations have scattered the print media landscape to the point where they are in our subconscious. In fact some of his works have become staples of pop culture. On any given month you may see his work in Wired, Time, The New York Times or even the cover art of some band. When you see Lou Beach's work you suddenly start to realize just how unoriginal a lot of this new 'hipster' art is. Heads of animals fused with people, bright colors and weird collage is old news. His commercial work is really good but his personal stuff is where the truly bizarre happens. Seriously though go back and look at Bosch's epic tryptich "The Garden Of Earthly Delights" and tell me you don't see the resemblance.

Go to LouBeach.com and play with his monkey! (it will make sense when you go to the site)

weird video of the week

This one is kinda strange because the video seems to have nothing to do with the song. In the end, I like the video and think it's a good video for what was probably a $20 budget. Plus, this is one of my favorite rock jams in the past year.

Weird video of the week

Hands down this wins for this weeks' weird video. Not because everything is made of Legos (that's pretty average these days). No, it's because they moved all the trees to set up their rave! You can't just move trees that easily...it's a difficult and time consuming process. Also, the cops have a medieval cannon!?

Keiichi Tanaami

Many of us have probably seen this guy's work but didn't know the mind behind the madness. The man is Keiichi Tanaami. One of Japan's most famous modern artists. He's had tons of shows and has been one of the most prized and celebrated artists of the 20th century. He worked with Andy Warhol in the '60s and has done his fair share of drugs, which may explain some of his work.

Weird Video of the Week UPDATED

I haven't seen many videos this week but this is a weird one I saw here. It's the video for "Nothing to Worry About" by Peter Bjorn & John. I've been feeling this song for a couple months now but would never have expected a video like this. I know it seems odd to see middle-aged Japanese biker gangs stuck in a scene from West Side Story and Beat Street at the same time. They're in Japan though and stuff like this actually happens all the time there. Notice that the people walking by don't even look at them!! I'm having a craving for ramen now! *sigh*

the perfect woman!!..almost :( *

Aiko is a Japanese girl built in Canada that can do almost anything for you and doesn't forget anything. The only major issues with this chick are that she requires a charge ever few hours and doesn't walk. From what I could tell, she can be a bit of a pain, but you could program her to your liking. Oh, and NO SEX! I don't know why someone would ever make a woman like that!!?? However, it's a lot cheaper than a real wife would cost that did give you sex- only $28,000 for the current model. Compare that to the millions you'll spend over a lifetime trying to convince your real wife to sleep with you once a year! She does speak Japanese and English though but her English isn't very sexy. She is the product of a lifetime of work by 'genius' (psycho) Le Trung.
*Disclaimer: In case you can't tell, I'm kidding! Some people get real crazy about this kind of humor for some reason.?

Read more about Aiko at her website- ProjectAiko.com

“Aiko is what happens when science meets beauty. I want to make her look, feel and act as human as possible so she can be the perfect companion.

I talk to her a lot, and hope to improve her knowledge. So far, she can understand and speak 13,000 different sentences in English and Japanese. She recognizes faces and says hello when any of my family come around to visit.

She helps me pick what to have for dinner and knows what drinks I like.

She even helps me with directions when we’re going somewhere. She has all senses except for smell, a is very patient and never complains,” says Mr. Trung

(this is a weird picture...she probably beat him up for this!)

Weird video of the week...

I really haven't seen any videos in a few weeks but this week this is the weirdest thing I've seen in terms of music videos. The music is OK but the video is great and has everything a weird video needs: empty airport, dying fish out of water, half naked girl (alone- in hotel and in airport), mysterious bubble that seems to stalk the half-naked girl...oh yeah and they show ariola!

Psycho!!

I've seen some really crazy movies (that weren't even porn)!! But this Korean movie by acclaimed director Park Chan-wook. This movies is total chaos, a little violent and really plays with your mind. What seems like just another crazy movie happens to be one of the most bizarre love stories ever told. Great editing and cinematography too. Maybe I'll just pirate this and give it away to people so they watch it. This short little trailer doesn't really do the movie justice...you just gotta see it- a couple times. I'll warn you though...one of the scariest parts for some people is---> it's subtitled!! uh oh! Guess you illiterate movie lovers better learn to read or practice your Korean language skills.

It's about damn time...

Thank you science! Finally I can have a pet just long enough to love it and be sad when it dies in just 1-3yrs time. Scientists have cloned sheep, grown teeth in petri dishes and teleported metal. So, some of these mad scientists got together and thought this would be a great idea. You get the best of both worlds: you get a pet programmed to your needs AND you get to question humans' involvement in nature, life and death. This reminds me of that lesson that's taught to kids...you know, the one where the parents buy the kid a pet chicken, let the kid start to love it, then chop it up and eat it for dinner. Wait...you weren't taught that lesson?! Well, it was a good lesson and a delicious meal. This has me thinking..what do GenPets taste like?

Get in the backseat, baby..

I've been compiling a list of bad pick-up lines but this video might be just as good/bad. Trust me guys, this does NOT work. I drive a go-cart though so maybe it's just me. Billy Ocean has a sweet Porsche cabriolet so maybe this worked for him. Doubtful though. Even as a kid I thought this was a little weird but maybe he just wants to be their chauffeur which is why he wants them in the backseat? You know, because it's safer there. Either way, Billy Ocean was one smoothe operator before becoming a rasta.

National Geographic is more than just a magazine used a source for 'boobies' for pre-pubescent boys. The take pictures of lots of other naked stuff in the world too. Their photography is always top-notch and never gets old. I haven't checked this site in about 6 months but it's not like they add a new gallery that often either. Highly recommended!

In the picture is part of the Toxic nudibranchs series. You can see the rest of that gallery here.

Be sure to browse around National Geographic .com too! But beware, you will be trapped into looking and reading for hours!

A good way for your music to NEVER be heard (but also never bootlegged)

So some scholar of the highest order of nerd-dom thought of a genius way of distributing and selling music without all the hassles of worrying about how many people would bootleg it or even buy it. Seriously, unless you have an old NES gaming system you will not be able to listen to this. Well, maybe you could visualize what it sounds like but somehow a grey case with a sticker on it does not scream 'awesome synesthetic experience' to me. I guess i'm not a total nerd yet. I am enough of a nerd to know that NES rom's have a very limited capacity and probably cannot even handle music that's actually worth listening to. So, thanks ( whoever made this ) for making crap music that nobody can listen to. There is a download option for people that don't just happen to have an NES.

I did hear this shit is all the rage in Azerbejan.

Awe...isn't that sweet

Here's a couple stories that I thought were touching. I like romantic stuff like this sometimes because it makes me feel human and I can laugh at somebody for being such a wimp! (just kidding) I'm a bit of a romantic myself but I'm not sure I'd do anything as crazy as these guys. Then again, I haven't been in a relationship in a long time and haven't had the chance to spend as much time with someone as these guys have.

I think this story is amazing. Not only is it romantic and sweet but it really shows tests the limits of focus and endurance.
read- Man carves 6,000 stairs for his wife
(what if he was just building himself a faster escape route?)

Now, this one isn't so sweet. Basically this man is suffering from a common mental illness only found in males called 'I can't believe she did this to me' syndrome. The cause is when a woman whom a man has spent considerable time, emotion and even money on, just decides to end the relationship or cheats on the man. Nobody really knows what causes the woman to do such things but some researchers believe they most likely suffer stupidity, selfishness and a cold heart. Unfortunately, symptoms will be with the man for life but there are cures to make life livable again. Such as getting rid of any physical evidence that reminds him of the woman. That's what this guy did. I wonder though, if he's selling everything he owns, isn't he selling his life before her too?! That seems kind of dumb if you ask me. Yeah, ok, this guy is just an idiot and she should have left him. ("that's right baby, you're with me now and I'd never sell everything I own to get you out of my life. See, i told you I'm romantic!")
Read his story and check out the auction>

On a side note, I've been asked the question 'so, why are you single?' quite a bit and I honestly don't know. I have met and went out with a lot of girls in the last couple of years (like a pimp!) but have only met a couple that I sincerely wanted to be with. Even recently I met someone I really wanted to know and be with..she's awesome, smart, funny, caring, interesting, etc...we had a great time and really connected and were both looking forward to seeing each other more...I wasn't planning of building 6k stairs but would have done some other good stuff with/for her. We only hung out once though and she won't talk to me now!? I know you're probably thinking,"wtf?!" I don't know, maybe you should ask her! haha.. Or, if you know someone whom I might like, let me know. I'll warn you though, I'm picky..they must have all their limbs! (being awake, able to speak and walk would be nice too!) hehe...I kid, I kid..

Good to know: I'm not the only person with this theory

I'm not a scientist by any means although I love learning about scientific things. I am however into thinking about logical or practical theories to explain things. Such as, aliens really coming from the center of the earth and not the center of the universe...you know hard core logic based on fact and empirical evidence. We don't even know where the center of the universe is. Sorry ladies, you are not the center of the universe. That would defy logic and based on the evidence it would appear that the earth remains completely still and everything is moving around us...so, there you go, the center of the earth is where aliens come from.

Ok, back to serious reality land is the pangea theory and plate-tectonics. Even as a kid i thought it made more sense that the earth was at one point much denser and the surface was all land. Seriously, how else would all the land mass go back together  unless the earth was smaller but contained the same mass. Plus, the earth is heating up and as things heat up they expand. Therefore, it would make sense that the earth is in-fact expanding. I stopped sharing this with people since it is an unpopular theory and was tired of it being called crazy, weird or dumb. I'm not surprised to learn that other people have thought this but am pleased to see that some lunatic made a video. It's ok that I call him that because  he is...c'mon, he's a comic book author! Those people are scare me more than animals that look like plants.

Here's a video of this theory..

Physical Attraction : magnetic art

Here's a couple videos involving magnets. The first one is one of many videos I've seen with FerroFluid (an oily fluid with magnetic particles suspended in it). This was developed by Japanese artist, Sachiko Kodama.

The second video is from some company called NASA. They're not too good at making movies although the technology the used is amazing. They might be better suited for space science and aeronautics.

Nothin but time...

So, I'll admit that I somehow find time to do thing that may not make sense (such as browsing the world for content) but some people just seem to dedicate their lives to doing everything but work. I guess that's the advantage to never moving out of your parent's house...you get to do cool (uhhh, I mean, nerdy) things all day long. This is the first entry for a section all about things that are done by people with seemingly 'too much time' on their hands.
